School district stops ‘kidmail’

The Northshore School District has announced that it will discontinue the practice of distributing elementary-school fliers by sending them home with students — a practice that was known as “kidmail.”

The district will post community activities on its Web site (www.nsd.org) instead. Guidelines for flier approval will remain the same.

The new system is expected to save 158 tons of paper each year, or about 2,700 trees, according to the district. Northshore distributed 1.5 million pieces of paper through “kidmail” last year.
