Mayor Baker to host public meeting

Kenmore Mayor David Baker will host a question-and-answer meeting with residents from 7-8:30 p.m. May 28 at the Kenmore Community Club, 7304 N.E. 175th St. The “What’s Going on in Your City” gathering will most likely touch upon State Route 522, the post office and Kenmore’s future downtown.

COLLEGE NEWS

• Linfield College’s Christine Bronson of Kenmore presented a senior piano recital May 23 in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall in McMinville, Ore. The concert featured Bronson on the keyboard performing the classical works of Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin and Albeniz.

• Heather Ann Hunter of Bothell will graduate from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) May 24 with a bachelor of science degree in civil and environmental engineering.

HIGH-SCHOOL NEWS

• Last month, the 72-member Inglemoor High wind ensemble went to Orlando, Fla., to participate in the Festival Disney music competition. The Ted Christensen-directed group received a superior rating and best in division (AAAA) and best in competition honors.

• More than 14,000 high-school marketing/DECA students from all 50 states, Canada, Germany, Puerto Rico and Guam converged in Anaheim, Calif., April 27-May 3 for the 63nd annual International Career and Development Conference.

Inglemoor High winners were:

• Jasmine Roe, travel and tourism marketing

• Teresa Lohr, travel and tourism marketing

From Bothell:

• Ricky Boice, fourth place in marketing-management decision making

• Kailey Creek, Marisa Mohn and Amanda Nichols, 11th place in the chapter management project

ARMY NEWS

• Army Pvt. Carter H. McSwain has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

The 2008 Inglemoor High graduate is the son of John McSwain of Bothell.

• Air Force Airman Christian G. Ogard graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Ogard earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course.

The 2007 Inglemoor High graduate is the son of Timothy and Patricia Ogard of Kenmore.
