Citizens interact with police officers, firefighters at National Night Out Against Crime

The cities of Bothell and Kenmore held National Night Out Against Crime events on Tuesday.

Bothell’s took place at the Bothell Police Department and Kenmore’s was at City Hall.

In Bothell, the free event featured food, music, crime-prevention information, police and fire demonstrations, fingerprinting, balloon animals and more.

In Kenmore, the Police Department and Northshore Fire Department hosted its event, which featured Police Chief Clifford Sether barbecuing hamburgers and hot dogs for citizens. Activities included fingerprinting and ID cards for kids, bicycle registration cards, home and personal safety information and more.

By celebrating National Night Out Against Crime, citizens joined more than 36 million people from all over the country. National Night Out Against Crime is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
