The City of Kenmore has received notice from the Washington State Auditor’s Office that it is eligible for a two-year audit cycle based on the audit history and city revenues. The city has achieved 11 consecutive years with zero audit findings. The Auditor’s Office is scheduled to perform an audit of the City’s 2011 and 2012 financials in 2013.

“That we are able to move to a two-year cycle demonstrates the city’s commitment to accountability,” said Mindy Chambers of the Washington State Auditor’s Office.

“The Auditor’s Office initiated the two-year cycle because we have more than a decade of clean audits and our excellent internal controls,” said Mayor David Baker. “This is a compliment to the city’s commitment to holding a high standard of fiscal accountability and integrity.”

Audit procedures are performed to determine whether the city complied with state laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures. Past audits have focused on accountability for public resources and compliance with laws and regulations; financial statements; and federal compliance. Unqualified opinions have been issued on the financial statements which means they are presented fairly, in all material respects.
