Congresswoman invites high school artists to submit artwork for competition

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) is reminding local high school-aged students that her office is accepting submissions for the annual Congressional Art Competition until at 5 p.m. on April 3.

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) is reminding local high school-aged students that her office is accepting submissions for the annual Congressional Art Competition until at 5 p.m. on April 3.

The contest is open to all students in grades 9-12 who either reside or attend high school in Washington’s First Congressional District. The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and runners-up will be displayed in Congresswoman DelBene’s congressional office.

To participate, students must complete and submit an entry form, which they can get by going tohttp://delbene.house.gov/serving-you/art-competition or by calling 425-485-0085.

Entry forms need to be signed by the student, a parent or guardian, and a faculty member and mailed or delivered to the Congresswoman’s office by Friday, April 3. Artwork may be delivered or mailed to the Congresswoman’s office in Bothell:

Congresswoman DelBene will host an Awards Reception to showcase the exhibit, honor all participants, and announce awards on April 27 from 6:30 to 8p.m.

The competition, which was initiated by Congress in 1982, involves hundreds of thousands of high school students from across the nation. One piece of artwork from each congressional district is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C.
