The final phase of the Crossroads project is starting next month and the community is invited to an open house to learn more about the project and the impacts of construction. The gathering will take place from 6-8 p.m. May 24 at the Bothell Police Station, 18410 101st Ave. N.E.

Located where State Route 522, State Route 527 and Bothell’s Main Street converge, the Crossroads project will improve traffic congestion and increase safety on a critical commute and freight corridor. More than 44,000 vehicles pass though this intersection daily.

The first two phases of the project were completed in 2010. Once this final phase is complete, SR 522 will be decoupled from Bothell’s Main Street and a portion of SR 522 will be moved a block south of where it currently is.  The Park at Bothell Landing will then be extended to meet SR 522, creating better views and access to the park from downtown. The project will also free up additional downtown properties which will be offered for sale later this year, and allow the historic Main Street to extend west. The project is expected to be completed in June 2014.

The total cost of the $55.4 million project is fully funded. Funding sources include city funds, grants, the Local Infrastructure Financing Tool (LIFT) Program and Brightwater mitigation funds.
