Closures of SR 522 in Lake Forest Park to replace a fish culvert finished successfully and on-time at 5:30 a.m., Monday morning.

Crews worked around the clock from July 17-21 to complete the culvert replacement and get SR 522 back in working order.

The culvert is part of the Lyon Creek Flood Mitigation project at Lake Forest Park and will not only reduce flooding risk and improve stream channel capacity, but also has improved the stream’s habitat for fish spawning.

At $6.86 million, the complete Lyon Creek Flood Mitigation Project isn’t expected to be completed until 2015, however they won’t need to close down SR 522 again for the mitigation project.

The City of Lake Forest Park does not plan on closing down all or part of SR 522 for the Lyon Creek Flood Mitigation Project or any other projects.
