Davidson benefit rummage sale on tap

A rummage sale to benefit the Julie Davidson Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Sammamish Valley Grange, 14654 148th Ave. N.E., Woodinville.

Davidson was a longtime Woodinville resident who died in 2006 after a 15-year battle with autoimmune disease. Despite her health issues, she raised money for women’s health issues and worked behind the scenes promoting local farmers markets. She helped found the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Programs that provide vouchers to low-income mothers and seniors to buy fresh produce.

A scholarship for health-care students has been set up in her name at Cascadia Community College. To fully fund the scholarship for perpetuity, her friends are trying to raise an additional $13,000.

Items for sale will include clothing, household items, books and toys. Monetary contributions will also be accepted.
