Five area cities have signed a letter of support for inclusion in Sound Transit Three’s proposed expansion north of Lake Washington.

The cities of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell and Woodinville all signed the measure, affirming their support for the measure.

If approved by Sound Transit, State Route 522, which runs around the north end of Lake Washington, could see expanded bus transit along the corridor, which would ultimately connect with the light rail line being constructed, connecting Lynnwood to SeaTac airport.

Congestion on SR 522, stemming from a rapidly expanding area population and the tolling of the cross-lake bridge on SR 520, was a key concern to the five cities leaders.

For more information on the proposal, see previous coverage from the Bothell/Kenmore Reporter, as well as the official letter here.
