An educational assistant at a Bothell junior high school has resigned after learning he was under investigation for allegedly sending inappropriate emails to students and asking them sexually explicit questions.

A Snohomish County Superior Court judge approved a search warrant last month allowing Bothell police to seize computer and other electronic devices to look for evidence. The aide worked at Skyview Junior High School.

The employee resigned in January, said Leanna Albrecht, a Northshore School District spokeswoman.

The man has not been charged with a crime. He is under investigation for allegedly communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, according to court papers.

Two teens — both former students at the school — told police that they got to know the educational assistant well. They said that near the end of the 2014 school year he asked them questions from a ninth-grade questionnaire while recording them on video.

After a few standard questions, the man allegedly said he had some “inappropriate” questions they didn’t have to answer. He then reportedly asked them about topics of a sexual nature, including if they were virgins and details about their sexual experience. He then allegedly asked them to rate parts of their bodies on a scale of one to 10.

In a separate incident, they said he recorded them on video while they danced provocatively in an empty classroom. The girls said he refused to delete the video and they thought he would take it home to watch. One of the girls said she thought he was being “creepy.”

A third girl also was interviewed by police and shared stories similar to the other two girls, court papers said.

A teacher in December said she overheard two conversations between the assistant and a student that she felt included inappropriate sexual content.

The school assistant under investigation declined to talk with police when they approached him for a statement, court papers said.
