Internet purchase of fireworks is illegal

State Fire Marshal Charles M. Duffy is reminding Washingtonians that purchasing fireworks over the internet is illegal.

The following is a release from the State Fire Marshall’s office:

State Fire Marshal Charles M. Duffy is reminding Washingtonians that purchasing fireworks over the internet is illegal. In Washington State, fireworks must be purchased from a licensed retail fireworks stand during the legal sales period. Orders for fireworks cannot be placed over the internet or posted on websites such as Craigslist and OfferUp. Residents should talk with family members and guests about the fireworks laws for their area. Personal fireworks are banned in Kirkland.

Independence Day is a time to celebrate our freedoms. Personal fireworks require personal responsibility. Remember the three B’s of fireworks safety:

Be Prepared—Have water nearby and put pets indoors

Be Safe—Only adults should light fireworks

Be Responsible—Clean up fireworks debris
