Intersection improvements heading to 228th Street and SR 527 in August

Construction for the Bothell-Everett Highway and 228th Street SE Intersection Improvement project is set to start later in August.

Construction for the Bothell-Everett Highway and 228th Street SE Intersection Improvement project is set to start later in August.

On July 29, Bothell city staff held a public information session for citizens to learn about the construction project at the intersection of Bothell-Everett Highway and 228th Street SE.

The project will reconfigure the intersection at Bothell-Everett Highway and 228th St SE in Canyon Park, to enhance traffic safety and operations.  The west leg of 228th St SE will be widened to include an additional left turn lane.  The traffic islands at the intersection will be replaced with new channelization, and traffic signal operations and street lighting will be updated.

In the early stages of the project, anticipated traffic impacts will be minimal as the work area where the widening is taking place is outside the existing travel lanes. However, expect increased truck traffic as equipment and materials start being delivered to the project site.

Mid-way through the project, expect intermittent traffic impacts for the installation of electrical conduit and utility tie-ins. These traffic impacts will be limited to single lane closures during off-peak daytime hours.

In the late stages of the project, there will be increased traffic impacts to allow for the installation of curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveway tie-ins, new traffic signal poles, asphalt paving and pavement striping. Much of this work will occur at night time; so multiple lanes of traffic may be closed at a time, and detour routes may be implemented.
