Javid named UW-Bothell’s 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award Winner

The University of Washington, Bothell named Dr. Mahnaz Aflatooni Javid as the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award winner.

The University of Washington, Bothell named Dr. Mahnaz Aflatooni Javid as the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award winner.

This prestigious award recognizes UW-Bothell alumni who have shown distinguished professional achievements or outstanding community service work since graduating from the institution. Previous winners include Rep. Mike Hope, Natalie Kay Lang and Wendy Hough.

Dr. Javid, currently the vice president of Global Learning and Development for Avanade, a high-tech consultancy, graduated from UW-Bothell in 1995 with a master’s in education. She then went on to earn a doctorate in educational leadership, with a focus on educational technologies and human-software interfaces from Seattle University.

Dr. Javid is also committed to, and has been involved in community service and social and economic development projects in the U.S., South and Central America and Africa for the past 15 years. She is one of the founding members of the Mona Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting grassroots educational initiatives committed to raising the status of women and girls in the U.S. and abroad. Additionally, she is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions and is a frequent presenter at conferences focused on educational leadership.

This award was presented to Dr. Javid at UW-Bothell’s 19th annual commencement June 13.
