Longtime Bothell resident John Migliore passed away April 22, 2011 at the age of 97. John was the sixth of eight children born near Portland, Ore., to immigrants from Calabria, Italy. When John was young, the family of 10 moved to Woodinville, then to Bothell where they had a large farm on the land in the valley. John trucked the produce to a Seattle wholesaler, and to Fort Lewis.

John graduated from Bothell High School where he played football and basketball for coach Pop Keeney. In 1938 he met Concetta Anthony at an Italian picnic. In 1941 they were married at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin in Seattle’s Rainier Valley. They began their life together back in Bothell on Ross Road where John built a new home for Concetta and their two daughters. They lived there until 2003. John and Concetta belonged to St. Brendan Parish in Bothell, and spent countless hours in service to various Italian clubs and causes throughout the Puget Sound area. John and Concetta celebrated their 69th anniversary last November.

When John gave up farming, he built homes around Bothell and in Seattle. Eventually he “retired” to Molbak’s. In 2003, State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe declared that a portion of 108th Avenue Northeast would receive the designation, “Via Migliore” in honor of Johnny’s contribution of land to connect Bothell with Maywood Hills. For many years John rode horses in Bothell’s July 4th parade, and he was once Grand Marshall.

Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. May 6, followed by funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 10053 N.E. 195th, Bothell. Interment following at Lake View Cemetery, 1554 15th Ave. E., Seattle. Memorial donations may be made for research into macular degeneration.
