Kenmore City Council begins 2016 with swearing in of four returning Councilmembers

The Kenmore City Council held its first regular meeting of the year on Jan. 11, beginning with the swearing in of four returning Councilmembers.

The Kenmore City Council held its first regular meeting of the year on Jan. 11, beginning with the swearing in of four returning Councilmembers. The Council also selected the mayor and deputy mayor for the 2016-2017 term.

King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski administered the oath of office for returning Councilmembers Brent Smith, Milton Curtis, David Baker, and Stacey Denuski, all of whom were elected to their four-year term positions in the November 2015 election.

The Council unanimously appointed David Baker to again serve as mayor and Allan VanNess to continue his position as deputy mayor. The Council appoints a mayor and deputy mayor from amongst its members every two years. Baker has been mayor since 2008; VanNess has served as deputy mayor since September 2014.

City Council meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second, third, and fourth Monday of every month. City Hall is located at 18120 68th Ave NE.
