Personal fireworks prohibited in Kenmore
In 2004, Kenmore City Council adopted Ordinance Number 04-0204 prohibiting the sale, discharge or possession of any fireworks including those considered safe and sane fireworks (KMC 8.10.020). The ordinance became effective June 18, 2005. The risks associated with private fireworks displays must be minimized for the sake of public safety. Nearby communities may have different regulations regarding personal fireworks, but personal fireworks are prohibited in Kenmore.
To help ensure all have a safe and considerate Fourth of July, the city has a zero-tolerance policy and will increase police enforcement the last week of June through the Fourth of July weekend and beyond if necessary. Anyone possessing or discharging fireworks, of any kind, will be arrested and the fireworks confiscated. Fireworks offenses are misdemeanors with a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and/or $1,000 fine.
