Edward Yang, Kenmore Junior High School eight-grader, placed sixth at the MATHCOUNTS state competition on March 16 and is one of the top eight finishers who will participate in the MATHCOUNTS international competition hosted by The Boeing Company in Mukilteo, Wash. on April 13.
The Kenmore Junior High School team of Steven Tanner, Edward Yang, Jason Zhu and Alex Zhou placed ninth and the Northshore Junior High School team of Seong Hong, Richard Lu, Michael Paderno and Eric Zhu placed tenth. Eric Zhu, Northshore Junior High School eight-grader, placed tenth in the individual competition.
MATHCOUNTS is a national middle school (grades 6-8) coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging “bee” style contests.
