Kenmore Sheriff’s Blotter: Man loses nearly $17,000 to scammers

Between August 7 and August 14, eight thefts (including identity theft and fraud) occurred along with four assaults, one DUI, one case of robbery, three burglaries, four instances of driving without a valid license, two instances of vandalism and one case each of trespassing and public drunkenness.

August 7

A man was arrested on an intoxicated driving warrant out of Seattle after being found asleep on the corner of Northeast Bothell Way and 80th Avenue Northeast.

August 8

A man was cited for fourth-degree assault which included him spitting on someone at the Copper Lantern Apartments.

Two people were trespassed from an apartment complex after dumpster diving in the 17600 block of 80th Court Northeast.

August 9

Five pairs of expensive basketball shoes were stolen from a home in the 7600 block of 198th Place.

Someone was cited for driving with a suspended license.

A mechanical stapler being used to install security cameras at Daddy’s Donuts was stolen.

August 10

Items were stolen from the Parkside Condos parking garage.

Police found a drunken man asleep outside of Safeway.

A victim received a scam phone call claiming to be the Internal Revenue Service which demanded money to avoid a bench warrant. The victim deposited nearly $17,000 into an account before realizing it was a fraud.

A man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and an active warrant in the 7200 block of Northeast 181st Street.

While the owners were at work, burglars broke into a house in the 6500 block of Northeast 198th Street.

An attempted burglary was reported a couple hours later in the 6600 block of Northeast 190th Street.

Two women were walking around in the 8000 block of Northeast 203rd Street looking at a boat. The owner confronted them and the women fled in a Ford Explorer.

August 11

The owner of a large curved sword forfeited it since they were moving and no longer wanted it.

Someone removed a fuse from a truck in the 15300 block of 81st Avenue Northeast, rendering it inoperable. Nothing else was taken or damaged.

A burglary was reported in the 7600 block of Northeast 165th Street. The burglars entered through a back door they forced open.

An attempted wire fraud was reported after a new ‘friend’ asked the victim to wire money to them.

A vehicle key and money was stolen from the Timbers Apartments.

August 12

Would-be car prowlers broke the rear latch of a jeep in the 8400 block of Northeast 169th Place trying to gain entry.

An unknown suspect tried to cash a paycheck using a fake identification card at Wells Fargo along Northeast Bothell Way.

A woman assaulted a barrista at Best Friends Espresso and stole the tip jar. She was later arrested and booked into SCORE jail.

A driver was stopped for an infraction and subsequently arrested on DUI charges in the 18900 block of 61st Avenue Northeast. The driver had a blood-alcohol content level of .185, more than twice the legal limit.

August 13

A possible violation of a no-contact order was reported at Jack in the Box.

August 14

A citation was issued for driving with a suspended license.

Phone and cable ground wires were pulled from a home in the 19200 block of Kenlake Place Northeast.

Suspects broke off a PVC drain pipe and used it to tamper with a water valve at Moorlands Elementary.

A domestic violence incident resulted in domestic violence assault, robbery and unlawful imprisonment charges.

A woman was arrested on fourth-degree assault charges after hitting her husband on the way home from a soccer game.
