In the past year, the state of Washington lost nearly 100,000 jobs. The unemployment rate in King County has reached 8 percent and, statewide, the rate is now 9.2 percent.

To help people cope and get back on their feet, the King County Library system is hosting how-to demonstrations on the latest job search and financial tools. “Look to Your Library” special resource demonstrations are planned for May 1 through May 8 at many King County branch libraries.

Throughout that week, 41 system libraries will open one hour early, offering more than 300 extra hours of service for all King County residents. During the first two hours every day that week, librarians will show patrons how to handle such issues as job searches, struggling small businesses and dealing with mounting debt. Services are free and open to the public. Call your local library for details.
