Learning Center has spring classes

At least for now, the nonprofit center will not be affected by the proposed closure of St. Edward State Park or the already completed shutting of the park’s Carole Ann Wald Memorial Pool, said learning center President Colleen Ponto.

At least for now, the nonprofit center will not be affected by the proposed closure of St. Edward State Park or the already completed shutting of the park’s Carole Ann Wald Memorial Pool, said learning center President Colleen Ponto.

The first offerings include a workshop titled “Be the Change: What’s going on in the world and what can we do about it?” A second class talks about global warming, sustainability and healthy food choices. A green building seminar follows.

Classes are free and open to the public, though registration is needed. Space is limited. Classes are held in the park, in the St. Edward grand dining hall or on the grounds of center co-sponsor, Bastyr University. To register for classes or for a complete schedule of classes, go to www.seelc.org or call (425) 489-0549.

Ponto noted that all courses are taught by volunteers, but in an effort to keep classes free, the learning center has launched a membership program. Details are available on the Web site or by calling the center.
