Local Bahá’ís to hold devotional gathering Feb. 7

The Bahá’í communities of Bothell, Kenmore, Juanita and Snohomish County South Central will hold a special devotional gathering from 6-7 p.m. Feb.7 at the Bothell Regional Library, 18215 98th Ave. N.E.

This event is planned to show the community’s concern for the seven imprisoned Bahá’ís — now on trial in the Revolutionary Court in Iran where they face charges that could result in death sentences if convicted. These Bahá’ís were formerly part of an ad-hoc group (the Yárán or Friends of Iran) that helped tend to the needs of the 300,00 Bahai’s in Iran.

It is the communities’ understanding that “the prayers offered by the believers worldwide have been a constant source of comfort and support to the former members of the Yárán, who have withstood their long ordeal with heroic fortitude and patience,” the local Bahá’ís wrote in a press release.

Members of other faiths, government contacts, friends and the general public are invited to this gathering.
