The King County Sheriff’s Major Crimes unit still is investigating the stabbing of a female jogger, 45, on the Burke-Gilman Trail in Kenmore.

Involving a city resident, the incident took place around 11 p.m. Oct. 15 on the trail near Kenmore Air, according to police reports.

Met by police at Evergreen Hospital to which the victim apparently had driven herself, the woman initially told police only that she was attacked from behind.

She could describe the suspect only as a male with a gray beard and wearing black work boots.

According to police, Evergreen personnel reported the woman had slash or stab wounds, at a minimum, on her chest, arms, back and face.

They also told police part of her left ear had been cut or torn.

In reports, police said they impounded as evidence the victim’s car, left in Evergreen’s parking lot and reportedly covered with blood in various parts of the front seat.

Officials said they at first were unable to talk much with the victim as she received emergency medical care.

Though her wounds were described as non-life threatening, she later was transferred to Harborview Medical Center.

Reports stated police received, at that point, a more detailed description of the attack. However, citing that the case is under active investigation, police were not making any further details public last week.

Information that was released gave no motive for the incident and contained no indication that the victim was sexually assaulted.
