The seventh annual Master Builders Care Foundation “Painting A Better Tomorrow” event will take place Nov. 6, with more than 150 volunteers applying fresh paint to Friends of Youth facilities in Bothell and Everett.
Volunteers from the MBA Professional Women in Building Council, Iron Brothers Construction and Ferguson Enterprises will form teams to paint the “New Ground Bothell” apartments, a facility that provides housing for up to 14 young women, ages 14-24, who are either pregnant or parenting their first child.
“We’ve had a groundswell of volunteers step up this year, and one of our councils, Professional Women in Building (PWiB) will be leading efforts at New Ground Bothell,” stated Art Castilleja, volunteer chair of “Painting a Better Tomorrow.” He went on to explain that PWiB leadership feels a special connection with “New Ground Bothell.”
Daralene Dennon, PWiB representative leading this project, stated, “We are so proud of our service to the community. Participating in events such as ‘Painting a Better Tomorrow’ brings us together in service. We feel it’s very important to use our skills to help make women’s lives better. Our volunteer efforts often result in happy tears at the end of the day.”
Volunteers from Irons Brothers Construction will join this unique group of women builders. Together they will add fresh paint to four apartment units at “New Ground Bothell.”
Castilleja further explains, “Many agencies don’t have the resources to paint their housing as often as they would like, and this is something our members can do to help and allow agencies like Friends of Youth and ‘New Ground Bothell’ to focus on necessary programs.”
