Master-gardeners tours set for Bothell starting June 26

Cost of groceries got you down? Master gardeners will be on hand to demonstrate a variety of organic gardening techniques and fun ways to get families outside and into the garden at three scheduled open houses this summer. The community is invited to visit the Bothell Children’s Garden, Farm Brown’s (food bank) Garden and Grace Community Garden, where experienced and novice gardeners tend their own plots.

Open houses will be from 10 a.m. to noon on three Saturdays: June 26, July 24 and Aug. 28. In addition to garden tours, they will provide children of all ages with opportunities to:

• Plant and care for vegetables, fruits, trees and flowers throughout the summer.

• Taste the produce as it becomes available.

• Work on crafts or projects that teach students about organic gardening and good stewardship of the Earth.

Everyone is welcome; children must be accompanied by their parent or guardian 18 years or older.

The Bothell Children’s Garden and Grace Community Garden are joint projects of the WSU Master Gardeners and Bothell United Methodist Church. They are located behind the church, directly north of Bothell High, at 18515 92nd Ave. N.E. For more information, leave a message for Le Brandes at the church at (425) 486-7132.
