Meeting set for discussion of Bothell projects

The city of Bothell is holding a community meeting to kick off the conceptual design phase of the Main Street Enhancement and Extension projects from 6-8 p.m. March 19 at the Northshore Senior Center (10201 E. Riverside Drive, Bothell).

As an element of the downtown-revitalization effort, Bothell’s historic Main Street will receive a renewal of its own.

“Main Street is the heart and soul of Bothell, and the downtown revitalization is an opportunity to refresh the look and feel of the street while building upon the unique and historic features already here,” said city of Bothell Project Engineer Nduta Mbuthia. “In addition to upgrading vital city infrastructure, the primary goal is to integrate this important section of our city with the rest of the downtown in order to keep in step with all the exciting changes that are planned for Bothell.”

Two transformation projects are planned for Main Street: It will be extended to connect the street grid to the west of Bothell-Everett Highway (State Route 527 Multiway Boulevard); also, the existing Main Street east of SR 527 up to 102nd Avenue Northeast will be reconstructed. During this conceptual phase, the design consultant (Berger/ABAM Engineers, Inc.) will develop urban design concepts and roadway alignment layout plans for the existing Main Street beginning at the Bothell-Everett Highway, east to 104th Avenue Northeast/Kaysner Way, as well as for the future Main Street extension beginning at the Bothell-Everett Highway, west to 98th Avenue Northeast.
