Memorial Day observances around the area

Memorial Day isn't just a day off from work to relax with some buddies over barbeque, it's also a day to recognize and mourn the lives lost defending the freedoms that Americans' enjoy today.

Memorial Day isn’t just a day off from work to relax with some buddies over barbeque, it’s also a day to recognize and mourn the lives lost defending the freedoms that Americans’ enjoy today.

Here is just a few of the Memorial Day observance events in the local area.

Starting at 1 p.m. on May 24  – Bothell Landing Park, 9919 NE 180th St., will host Petals on the River in honor of friends, family and community members who are no longer alive.

From noon to 4 p.m. on May 24  – Chateau Ste. Michelle Stay-cation, 14111 NE 145th Street, Woodinville, Wa. The Chateau Ste. Michelle has teamed up with the Exotics at Redmond Town Center team to host a free car show with food trucks and live music.

At 10:30 a.m. on May 25  – The Museum of Flight Memorial Day Ceremony, 9404 E. Marginal Way S. in Seattle. The Museum of Flight will be honoring military service members with patriotic music and speeches, along with free admission to veterans and active duty service members.

At 11 a.m.on May 25 – Floral Hills Cemetary Memorial Day, 409 Filbert Road in Lynnwood.

At 1:30 p.m. on May 25  – Annual Memorial Day Commemorative Service at Washelli, 11111 Aurora Avenue N in Seattle. The concert will begin at 1:30 p.m. and commemoration will begin at 2 p.m. as Evergreen Washelli honors and salutes America’s fallen military.

At 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on May 25  – CrossFit Bothell, 19017 120th Ave. N in Bothell – CrossFit Bothell is offering three free classes to honor Lt. Michael Murphy and all other soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
