The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now taking applications for the 2013 Volunteer Hero Award.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now taking applications for the 2013 Volunteer Hero Award. The Commissioner of Public Lands’ Volunteer Hero Award was created in 2012 to honor outstanding volunteers who dedicate their time, effort and passion to state trust lands. This award not only recognizes an outstanding volunteer who has shown tireless commitment, but it also celebrates all of DNR’s valuable volunteers.

Nominate a volunteer who has perhaps spent countless hours battling blackberries and scotch broom from overtaking trails and other natural areas, or maybe an individual who spends weekend after weekend volunteering for the Forest Watch Program. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated leadership and commitment in their sustained service to the DNR Volunteer Program.

To nominate a volunteer download and fill out the nomination form. Follow submission instructions on the form. Nominations will be accepted until Oct. 1.
