Almost 400 elementary mathaletes from 13 Northshore schools will test their math skills in number sense, algebra, probability and statistics and potpourri at the annual Northshore Elementary Math Olympiad competition.

Representing Bear Creek, Canyon Creek, Cottage Lake, East Ridge, Fernwood, Frank Love, Hollywood Hill, Kenmore, Maywood, Shelton View, Sunrise, Westhill and Woodin elementary schools, 80 teams will compete 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on March 12, at Woodmoor Elementary School, 12225 N.E. 160th St. Bothell, WA.

This culminating district-wide event encourages mathaletes to stretch their mind muscles and team work skills while collaboratively working out complex math programs in a tournament style competition.

Math Olympiad is an after school math program held at many Northshore elementary schools for fifth and sixth grade students designed to increase student interest in math and stimulate and challenge young scholars in mathematical pursuits. This hands-on activity builds belonging and increase student confidence throughout the year. Attendance is free.

Northshore Elementary Math Olympiad is supported by a grant provided by the Northshore Schools Foundation.
