Northshore Junior High Science Olympiad will represent Washington at Nationals

The Northshore Junior High Science Olympiad team recently won the state competition, held at Highline Community College on April 18.

The Northshore Junior High Science Olympiad team recently won the state competition, held at Highline Community College on April 18. They fielded two teams, and their other team placed eight out of 22 teams. Students competed in 23 separate events, ranging from bottle rockets to entomology. Below are the events with places in the top five.

Grace Zheng: First Bioprocess lab, First Solar system and fourth Experimental design

Hafsa Khan: First Invasive species, third Picture this and fourth Experimental design

Margot Reynolds: Third Game on! and fourth Invasive species

Students, parents, and coaches Edie Lie and Judy Nelson will fly to Lincoln, Nebraska on May 14 to attend the 31st National Science Olympiad tournament at the University of Nebraska. There will be 60 teams competing in 23 events (some states send two teams); in addition to the competition, teams will be swapping souvenirs from their home state and meeting other science enthusiasts from across the nation.
