The American Cancer Society will teams of local community members during the Northshore Relay For Life at 1 p.m. on May 30-31. The family friendly event will take place Skyview Junior High with music, food, and games for all ages and is expected to bring in more than 1,000 participants.

The event will also include the Cupcake Camp Seattle: Seattle’s biggest cupcake tasting event.

The Relay For Life program is a community-based event where teams and individuals set up campsites at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times. Cancer survivors and caregivers take a celebratory first lap to start each event.

The Cup Cake Camp will be a contest with a lot of prizes for the following categories for professional and amateur bakers: Best Theme, Best Decorated, Best Tasting, Best Display and Most Unique Ingredients.

All the cupcakes will be donated by the local community. Whether residents own a bakery and are a professional baker, or just love baking for fun, bring cupcakes to share at the event and help raise money for cancer. Entering the contest is not required.

Four million people participated in more than 6,000 events worldwide last year. The funds raised support cancer research, education and prevention programs, and critical services for people facing cancer.

Community members can get involved in the event by forming a team or making a donation to the Northshore Relay For Life.
