The Music Project uses music to create a unique opportunity that empowers students through personal improvement, with public performances for community recognition and celebration. Under the tutelage of Bernadette Bascom, creator of “The Music Project,” involvement kindles a spark for self-esteem, pride and creativity.

Students learn the value and rewards of sustained effort and hard work toward a specific performance goal and the achievement of success. Each student has a choice of personal song selection and the opportunity to enhance, highlight and share his or her individual talents through music.

Bascom is an accomplished performer herself having opened for Ray Charles and performed with acts such as Elton John and Stevie Wonder, performed as a headline performer on the Las Vegas Strip, and was the first artist signed to Stevie Wonder’s label Black Bull.

The Northshore Wranglers Special Recreation and Community Inclusion Program is a nonprofit serving individuals of all ages with intellectual, cognitive and developmental disabilities, their family and caregivers. Part of the Northshore Health & Wellness Center in Bothell, the Wranglers serves the cities of Bothell, Woodinville and Kenmore, as well as surrounding communities.
