Classes in the Northshore School District (NSD) start on Sept. 2 and, thanks to community-wide efforts and generosity, nearly 1,200 students will start the school year with basic and necessary supplies.

“Northshore School District and the Northshore Schools Foundation express heartfelt appreciation to all who played a role in responding to every need during this year’s Backpacks for Kids campaign. Countless students, families, community groups, businesses and civic organizations and Northshore School District staff backed this valuable program in a myriad of ways, each individually and collectively generating an impressive effort of support,” a NSD press release stated.

Many community businesses and organizations, church groups and more donated money and supplies to the program, enabling many children at the NSD the required items for class.

Items gathered include not only backpacks, but also office or school supplies, such as paper and pens.
