Kirkland, Bothell and Northshore firefighters responded to a Monday afternoon fire on 93rd Street Northeast in Bothell. According to Kirkland Fire Department public-information officer Robin Paster, the male adult renter and his son returned home to discover an upstairs room ablaze, called 911 at 1:30 p.m. and the renter sprayed the fire with a hose. Thirteen units responded within six minutes and put out the fire. Paster said the renter cut his shin and the son suffered a lacerated hand. Paster added that the family may have lost a few reptiles in their collection. About an hour after the blaze began, two turtles walked on the lawn — unharmed.

Amidst the windsocks, ceramics, jewelry, copper art and sculptures at last year’s LiveArts Bothell festival, Peter Jensen displayed his artwork of what he called, “Barns, Boats and Lighthouses.” Particularly eye-catching was his painting of the red Silvana Barn with its worn roof. I found myself staring at it.
