The heart surviving in a world of immediacy

Within the last hour, I have been a busy woman. I’ve washed a load of clothes and began drying a load of towels. In just a few minutes, my laundry for the week will be complete. I’ve defrosted a fillet in the microwave to broil to perfection for tonight’s dinner. While I was preparing dinner and doing household chores, I also sent a few e-mails and exchanged text messages with a friend living on the other side of the country.

Country Village hosts kids event

Bothell’s Country Village will host an “Awesome August” celebration for children from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2-3. The event features train and pony rides, cookie-making classes, an “Everything that Flies” demonstration, basket making, Art on the Spot, face painting, balloon animals, scavenger hunt, birdhouse making, character drawings, belly dancing class, Kings Original Kettle Korn, special kids menu, snow cones, games, prizes and more.
