Police departments to hold Citizens Academy in Kenmore starting in March

Kenmore, Shoreline and Woodinville Police departments along with the King County Sheriff’s Office are offering a Citizens Academy from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays March 15 through May 17 at Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Ave. N.E.

Kenmore, Shoreline and Woodinville Police departments along with the King County Sheriff’s Office are offering a Citizens Academy from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays March 15 through May 17 at Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Ave. N.E.

Attendees will gain a better understanding of police work and resources available to citizens. Those who participate in the academy are eligible to sign up to ride with an officer during part of a patrol shift.

The 10-week course covers a variety of topics, including: defensive tactics, K9, major accident investigations, drug investigations, homicide and other major crimes, automatic fingerprint identification system, Guardian One (the police helicopter) and marine patrol.

Registration and an application are required. Applications for those citizens who either live or work in Kenmore are available at the Kenmore Precinct (18118 73rd Ave. N.E.) or by calling Officer Mark Childers at (206) 205-7652. Space is limited.
