Snohomish County Sheriff John Lovick and city of Bothell Police Chief Carol Cummings would like the citizens of Snohomish County and the city of Bothell to know that the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the Bothell Police Department have a long-standing, positive and respectful working relationship.

“The city of Bothell’s Police Department is an outstanding law-enforcement agency with an impressive history of experience. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the Bothell Police Department have a long history of working in collaboration. Both agencies will continue that tradition of mutual support to meet the law-enforcement needs of the greater Bothell community regardless of the result of the annexation vote,” stated Sheriff John Lovick.

Both agencies have a strong history of cooperation and professionalism and are known in the region for this professionalism and their law-enforcement leadership. The men and women of both organizations receive the same basic law-enforcement training at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) and many attend the same advanced career development training for supervision and operational assignments.

“As a former King County sheriff, I appreciate and value the excellent capabilities and resources, particularly as a regional service provider, of county sheriffs’ offices. In particular, I have great respect for Sheriff Lovick and the Snohomish County’s Sheriff’s Office and their deputies that serve this region,” said Police Chief Cummings.

The agencies have a mutual aid agreement in place and their members have participated in several joint law-enforcement endeavors, including the Snohomish multi-agency response team for officer involved shootings (SMART), the Snohomish regional narcotics task force and numerous traffic safety events.
