Congresswoman Suzan DelBene will celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., federal holiday by volunteering at multiple events across the district.

The following is a release from the office of Congresswoman Suzan DelBene:

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene will celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., federal holiday by volunteering at multiple events across the district.

In honor of King’s legacy of service, DelBene will pull weeds, plant trees and spread mulch at UW Bothell and Cascadia Community College, North Creek Trail in Bothell and Everest Park in Kirkland. In 1994, Congress designated the MLK holiday as a National Day of Service so that it would be “a day on, not a day off.”

Today, DelBene will join UW Bothell and Cascadia Community College students and administrators in pulling weeds and planting trees on campus. Then the Congresswoman will plant trees along the North Creek Trail.

On Monday, DelBene will join Kirkland residents and UW students enrolled in a Restoration Ecology class at Everest Park to remove invasive ivy.
