Ahead of Sunday’s wild-card game featuring the Seattle Seahawks versus the Minnesota Vikings, Reps. Suzan DelBene (WA-01) and Keith Ellison (MN-05) placed a friendly wager on whose team will prevail and advance to the NFL playoffs.

The loser will have to give a one-minute House floor speech on the amazing football skills of the winning team.

“The result of this rematch in Minneapolis will feel like déjà vu – disheartened Vikings and triumphant Seahawks. The 12s will be heard from 1,600 miles away,” DelBene said. “And I can’t wait to hear all of the great things Congressman Ellison will be saying after the Seahawks defeat the Vikings. Come rain or snow, I’m in.”

“After a fluke win by the Seahawks earlier this season, I’m sure Seattle fans are confident. They shouldn’t be. The Vikings’ staunch defense and dominant running game will remind the NFL why they’re the Kings in the North,” Ellison said. “The Vikings are used to playing in the freezing cold. They relish it. Seattle has lost all three of its last cold weather games and hasn’t played a game colder than 32 degrees this season. Teddy Bridgewater is 4-0 in cold weather and this Sunday’s game at TCF Bank Field will have a high of 0. When my good friend from Washington takes the floor to celebrate our victory, I want to remind her what Vikings fans cheer: SKOL VIKINGS.”

The Seattle Seahawks take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at 10:05 a.m. at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
