Residential fire causes $200,000 in damage in Kenmore

Fire breaks out in residential garage in Kenmore

The Northshore Fire Department responded at 7:10 p.m. Feb. 9 to what officials described as a fully involved garage at a single family residence in he 6100 block of Northeast 192nd Street.

Reports said that upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from the garage and extending to the house.

Firefighters initially attached the fire defensively. After an initial knock down of the flames in the garage, Northshore personnel along with emergency crews from Shoreline and Bothell, made an interior attack and extinguished the fire on the first and second floors. The fire was reportedly under control in about one hour.

One of the occupants of the home saw flames coming from the garage. Officials said he was able to leave the home and called 911. No one was else was in the home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.

According to Northshore Fire Marshall Jeff LaFlam and the King County Sheriffs Office, the cause of the fire was accidental, sparked by an electrical malfunction. Damages are estimated at $200,000.
