Ryan DePuy loved soccer, was ‘loyal’ and ‘clever’

“He was a great person with a selfless heart. He was a strong soccer player,” said Bothell High boys soccer coach Alex Zahajko.

DePuy passed away April 10 at the age of 17.

According his obituary notice, his parents, Scott and Charlene, described him as: “Loyal, loving, compassionate, supportive and clever.

“He was passionate about soccer and shared many personal victories in the sport, including earning a varsity letter during his sophomore year at Bothell High.”

He also loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Hawaii and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Ryan was born Jan. 19, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nev., resided in Bothell and was a Bothell High junior.

A viewing was held at Evergreen Washelli at Bothell Funeral Home and a memorial service was held at Crosspointe Church in Bothell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ryan DePuy fund at any Bank of America branch.

Along with his parents, Ryan is survived by his sister, Tanya; grandparents, George and Sharon DePuy and Margareta Ogurkow; and his great-grandmother, Margaret Finch.

“It has been a very difficult time for the soccer team and the Bothell community,” Zahajko added about DePuy’s passing.
