Search called off for burglar in Maltby area near Bothell

A burglary suspect in the Maltby area has apparently escaped on a bicycle, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

A burglary suspect in the Maltby area has apparently escaped on a bicycle, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office called off the search around 1 p.m.

The man, who is believed to be a 37-year-old Everett resident, was being tracked by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team following a residential burglary in the area of York Road, between 35th Ave. S.E. and SR 524/Maltby Road.

The suspect was interrupted by the owner of the home while burglarizing the residence located in the 4400 block of 230th Place S.E. at around 9:40 a.m.

The burglar fled in a black Audi, colliding with a motorcycle rider at the 4300 block of 229th Place S.E.

The suspect then abandoned the vehicle at the 18400 block of 59th Ave. S.E., fleeing on foot along a power line maintenance road.

Bothell police are also involved in the investigation.
