Sen. McAuliffe, Mayor Lamb will speak at Cascadia Global Learning and the Arts building grand opening Dec. 4

The grand opening of Cascadia Community College’s new Global Learning and the Arts building will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 4. Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe and Bothell Mayor Mark Lamb will be the featured speakers. The event is free and open to the public.

“The opening of the Global Learning and the Arts building is a major milestone for Cascadia. We’ve outgrown our first building and now we can continue to expand and provide quality education to more students,” says Cascadia President Bill Christopher. “Additionally, the green investments we’ve made in the building will achieve energy savings and create educational opportunities for our students.”

The grand opening program will take place in Mobius Hall, a versatile performance and event space in the Global Learning and the Arts building that can accommodate up to 250 people in theater-style seating. Following a ribbon cutting, guests will be invited to go on student-led tours of the building.

The Global Learning and the Arts building opens for classes in January and will accommodate 800 additional students. The facility includes nine classrooms, the Mobius Hall performance space, an art gallery and faculty offices. Designed and built to achieve at least LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification, the building has many innovative features to support sustainability and may achieve Platinum certification.
