Sixteen students qualify to compete nationally from NSD at state History Day competition

Northshore students from Bothell and Inglemoor high schools and Leota, Northshore and Timbercrest junior high schools participated in the Washington State History Day Competition on April 23, at Green River Community College.

Sixteen students qualified to compete at the Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest on June 12-16, at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.

Those students include: Rimma Polevoy, Nikita Kansal, Daniel Ng, Natalie Keys, Maya Oleynikova,Deepthi Chandra, Jonathan Tinker, Brian Xie, Alex Wang, Tejas Raj, Marissa McMaster, Sarah Epley, Reese Glick, Kate Companion, Jerry Cao and Robert Ha.

Northshore Junior High School won the Most Outstanding School trophy in the Junior Division for the third time in four years. Additionally, Gretchen Schaefer, Northshore School District Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction, was named the Jim Kiefert Administrator of the Year. The award recognizes an administrator who has demonstrated support for the History Day program and fosters a learning environment that encourages student success.
