Snohomish County court receives new county commissioner

Snohomish County Superior Court Presiding Judge Michael T. Downes announced the appointment of Lee B. Tinney Snohomish County Commissioner to replace Commissioner Arden Bedle who recently retired.

Snohomish County Superior Court Presiding Judge Michael T. Downes announced the appointment of Lee B. Tinney Snohomish County Commissioner to replace Commissioner Arden Bedle who recently retired.

Lee will join the Court in the role of Commissioner on June 30, 2014, hearing calendars related to family law (civil motions, domestic violence, dissolution, paternity and child support), Guardianship/Probate as well as Mental Health and juvenile court matters related to Truancy, At Risk Youth, Child in Need of Services and some offender matters.

“We welcome Lee Tinney as a Superior Court Commissioner. Snohomish County is fortunate to have a lawyer of her caliber join become our newest judicial officer,” Downs said.

Lee is well-known and recognized in the legal community. She has more than 34 years of practice in Snohomish County. She has served for the past five years as a regular pro tem Snohomish County Superior Court Commissioner and Snohomish County Judge (Involuntary Treatment Act hearings/trials). As a private practitioner her professional experience includes mediation, arbitration, guardianships and family law.

Lee has demonstrated her commitment toward public service with significant involvement in professional and community service. This includes Volunteer Attorney at Snohomish County Legal Services and Volunteer Mediator through Volunteers of America Dispute Resolution Center. She has been recognized in 2004 as the Snohomish County Bar Association Attorney of the Year for her work as Chair of the Family Law Section, and Legal Services Attorney of the Month in April 2007 for pro bono legal representation. She has made significant contribution to various nonprofits, such a Luther Child Center and Cocoon House as well as countless PTA, sports booster clubs and other community based groups.
