Snohomish County will join King County and the Cascadia Green Building Council conference in sponsoring the 2013 Green Tools Government Confluence, an event that gathers sustainability leaders in the public sector from across the region for an intense day of inspiration and peer-to-peer learning.
“We’re pleased to see Snohomish County’s collaboration and sponsorship of this annual regional confluence, which fosters active and practical moves forward toward a sustainable future for us all,” said Vicki Colgan of the Department of Ecology’s Sustainable Building Materials Division.
The Government Confluence will be held May 15 at Seattle Town Hall, 1119 8th Ave. Registration is $50 per person and available at Cascadia Green Building Council’s website.
Government staff and elected officials will share success stories and address persistent challenges faced by local governments in advancing a sustainability agenda. The event is produced in conjunction with the Living Future unConference, scheduled for May 15-17.
“With national statistics continuing to point toward global warming’s effects in the United States, the Government Confluence is an important event to help our communities and leaders start preparing for the unpredictable impacts of a changing climate,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon.
Both the Government Confluence and the Living Future unConference will share the theme of “Resilience & Regeneration.” Education sessions will focus on a new generation of policy, partnerships and infrastructure.
