Square dance club offers lessons starting September

The Samena Squares Dance Club celebrated their 50th anniversary this May.

The Samena Squares Dance Club celebrated their 50th anniversary this May.

The club was founded in 1964 and have more than 50 members today that include singles, couples, young and experienced dancers. A variety of activities are enjoyed by club members, such as bi-monthly dances, festive balls, costume events, potlucks, community service and travel.

Each September, the club welcomes new members by offering lessons to people wanting to learn to square dance and/or brush up on square dance calls. There will be a square dance information night Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Juanita Community Club. Lessons begin Sept. 18 and run through March.
