UPDATE | SR-522 has been reopened

A serious one-car rollover accident late Sunday night has severely disrupted the Monday morning commute through Bothell on SR-522.

The accident occurred sometime after 11 p.m. on Sunday, as a man in his 30s rolled his vehicle and took out a power pole on the busy highway. The driver was taken to the hospital but his condition has not been released.

Utility workers are having to replace the damaged utility pole and restring the electrical wires, keeping the highway closed in both directions. The power lines were knocked into the street in the 17300 block of the state route and SR-522 has been closed between 96th Avenue and Northeast 180th.

Bothell police set up a detour for drivers and expect that the clean up will take through the end of the morning commute.

At 4:45 a.m., Bothell police tweeted,”522 will be closed both directions for possibly 4 more hours as crews work to replace poles/wires damaged during earlier collision.”
