Swafford pleads not guilty to attempted child rape charges

Former Northshore Juniors Volleyball coach Ronald Swafford pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted rape of a child in the second degree and communication with a minor for immoral purposes during his arraignment hearing today at the King County Courthouse.

Swafford, 59, is being held in King County Jail on $300,000 bail, and a case setting hearing is scheduled on March 6 at the courthouse.

Swafford, who was a coach for the club program for girls ages 14-18, was fired following his Feb. 3 arrest. The program was established in 1999 and contact for the team is through a Bothell mailing address, which is listed on its Volleyball.isport.com site.
