The state’s taxable retail sales increased to $33.25 billion for the third quarter of 2014 (July through September), up by 7.3 percent over the same period in 2013. Retail trade, a subset of total taxable retail sales, rose 5.5 percent to $14.58 billion.

The results come from the Washington State Department of Revenue’s quarterly report of taxable retail sales by industry. The report compares the third quarter of 2014 to 2013, which equalizes any seasonal effects of consumer purchasing habits.
