Two teams from FEMA Corps, a track of the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) program, will be serving at the FEMA Region X Regional Response Coordination Center (RRCC) in Bothell and the Northview Corporate Center (NCC) in Lynnwood until Nov. 28. The two teams will be assisting the region in completing a variety of assignments.
The first FEMA Corps team, known as Silver One, will be supporting the Geospatial Information Systems. Its duties will include the management and creation of new databases, creation of GIS products and the stewardship of various data types. Silver One will also be working on updating an environmental assessment tool and creating a process to help Tribal governments in FEMA Region VI, which includes the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
The other team, known as Green Three, will be working in Lynnwood assisting the Hazard Mitigation Department. It will be split into three groups to support the many branches within Hazard Mitigation. One member will be assisting the training department, while two other members will be supporting the risk analysis branch in the development of risk reports for a city in Washington and two of the watersheds in Alaska. The remaining three members will be collecting data and inspecting the local properties that have filed multiple flood insurance claims.
Both Silver One and Green Three look forward to assisting the area. They will be graduating from the FEMA Corps program in December after completing 10 months of national service.
